The first time I met Evelyn and Charlie was when their granddaughter Pam invited me to stay with them during a summer vacation when we were in high school. Upon arriving I asked if I could have something to drink and Evelyn said "If you're thirsty, get yourself a drink from the refrigerator!" It made me laugh and I immediately felt at ease in their home. Charlie was equally approachable and welcoming. From that day forward I have had immense respect and gratitude for their practical attitude toward life and their unconditional love for each other and the rest of their family. I am so fortunate to have known them both.

I am most grateful to all who have written how much my mom & dad meant to them. After 69 years of marriage, they shared much together, lived a full life until dad was around 90, and loved one another until the end. A Love like theirs is very hard to find and I was most blessed. To everyone who left a note for my mom, some relatives I have not seen in years, However, I remember you well and your parents who were a joy for me to see at different times, especially at Aunt Stasia's Christmas Eve when all of us would gather.. Our whole family was happy, noisy, and hungry for pirogi !
I especially wish to thank my daughter Pam and husband Justin for caring for mom in her larger home in Maine after dad's passing and making a little apartment for my mom who was about 5 minutes away from me for awhile. She was most happy there . She lived with babci, as her mom died at a young age, then she married my dad. She told me that she never lacked for love, ever in her life. God blessed you mom: on this earth and I am sure in this afterlife.

To Tom, Patricia, and rest of the family,
I loved Aunt Evelyn with all my heart and so sad to hear of her passing. There were many a holiday visits when my dad, and Aunt Evelyn's brother Walter, used to take us over to the house in Holyoke.
I loved Uncle Charlie too, and am so grateful to have had them in my life. Both of them provided such support to our family when my parents passed. My wife Jo-Ann cherished the times we got to spend together with them. We have only the fondest memories. God Bless Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Charlie.
With deepest sympathy,
Peter and Jo-Ann Manijak

Thanks to everyone for your memories and kind thoughts. Of course I always knew my grandparents were wonderful, but it's great to hear how they touched the lives of others.

Patricia, Pam and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss! I loved reading Evelyn's obituary...it was so beautifully written on a life filled with love and well-lived. I have fond memories of both Charlie and Evelyn at holiday dinners and ordinary dinners that my Nan (your Auntie Stasia) would host. There were always lots of stories and laughs...Evelyn was always dressed to impress - lipstick, hair, perfume and all! I moved out of the Holyoke area for quite some time ago I always wondered how both Evelyn and Charlie were doing. As I send along my condolences I am thankful to feel connected and caught up on their lives. Heaven has gained another angel who is now watching over all of you! Love to you all!

Dear Patricia, Tommy, Pam & Family,
So sorry for your loss. Evelyn had a really good life even though she had a hard beginning. She had a good marriage and good kids and really liked people. She loved to socialize and was crazy about movies and movie stars. Well, she's now in Heaven reunited with her loved ones, ready to watch over you all.

To The Greco family:
Evelyn and Charlie were our neighbors in the 50's on Bond St, and Newton St in Holyoke, MA. Charlie and Evelyn used to come to our apartment and watch our TV because we had the first one in the neighborhood. We will never forget the good times visiting with Charlie and Evelyn. Also, he would drive my brother, Francis and I to day nursery school and we just did not want to go. We would tell Charley that we were going to be sick. He would tell us that if we were sick in his car, we would have to clean the mess so we chose to go to day nursery school. We always heard that story and laughed. Whenever, we would see them out and about, oh how they reminisced about the adventures we shared in our younger years. They both loved my parents and would tell me stories about Loretta and Franny. They were so funny. My parents loved them. Both Charlie and Evelyn lived a full and happy life. Although she is gone, rich, warm memories of all that she meant to you will one day be a source of comfort. Until then, may it help to know that many are holding you close in thought and remembering her with love. They will never be forgotten.
Sincerely,
Maureen (Plouffe) Malke & Steven Malke
