Obituary of Paul E. Salisbury

Paul E. Salisbury Bangor - Paul E. Salisbury, 72, died Aug. 13, 2016 in Bangor. He was born Nov. 8, 1943 in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Charles Frederick and Veronica Leona (O’Brien) Salisbury. Paul attended first and second grades at St. Edward’s School in Bar Harbor, grades three to six at Emerson in Northeast Harbor and seven to twelve at MDI High School in Northeast Harbor. He enrolled in the NBC-RCA TV Production School in New York City staying in the Kopling House while in school graduating in 1961. He spent 36 years working for WLBZ Channel 2 NBC News starting in 1962 choosing WLBZ for its friendly attitude especially that of Ed Driscoll. After 12 years on the control board, he tried truck driving for 3 – 4 years for Stanley Construction. He interrupted his television career again when his father needed help completing the golf course in Trenton and continued working there for a year. The Mane Association of Broadcasting honored Paul as a member of the Maine Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2000. His love was his private business, Maine Creations and Island Evergreens, making Christmas wreaths and centerpieces, a business he learned from his father operating it for at least 25 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, a board member, Sunshine Officer and Color Guard Commander for ten years. He was a member of the Order of Founders and Patriots and was also a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Bangor. Paul’s sister, Barbara, died leaving two daughters and was married to Jim Major. Caroline Major Brady has three children, Megan, Chloe and Bridget; Katherine Major Clark and her husband, Matt have two children, Ethan and Callie; Paul’s older brother, W. Dayton Salisbury, is a retired ordained Roman Catholic priest; nieces and nephews, Richard Salisbury and his wife, Nancy, James Salisbury and his wife, Sara, Joanne Sousa and her husband, Tony, Chris Buzzell, Terri (Salisbury) Costa and her husband, Eric; other nieces and nephews, Rick Salisbury, Rhonda (Salisbury) Shannon and her husband, Clayton who have on daughter, Catlyn; cousins, Mildred and Gerald Jordan (deceased) and their sons, Mike and Time and their daughter, Jeni and Skip and their son Nathaniel. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Frankie, his Boston Terrier. Paul’s family thanks you for your Mass cards, cards of remembrance, your prayers and your thoughtfulness. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, August 20, 2016 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio St., Bangor. Family and friends may visit from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Saturday prior to Mass at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A time of friendship and refreshments will be immediately afterward and burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SAR Color Guard, c/o Salisbury Residence, 22 Sixteenth St., Bangor, ME 04401.
