Obituary of Bruce A. Buchanan
Bruce A. “Bucky” Buchanan, 67, passed November 15, 2024. He was born in Old Town in 1957, the son of Carl E. and Sonia (Friedberg) Buchanan and it was there that he met his lifelong friends Don Winslow and Ron Gastia, together they were true “partners in crime.” Later Dora Winslow would join them and the good times continued.
He started his working career at the Old Town Fire Dept and he had great memories of his time there. He moved on to the Bangor Police Dept and later to Detroit, Michigan for a short time working for the US Marshall Service. Missing his life in Maine, Bucky returned where he worked many years with his father for Carl E. Buchanan Associates. Near the end of his career, he returned to the team at the Bangor Police Dept where he enjoyed working with this cohesive group and helping the community. Bucky should be remembered most for being a loving husband of 30 years to his wife, Jennifer Story of Bangor, together raising and enjoying several “four legged” kids; the pride in his biological daughter, Christine Stewart and the wonderful family she developed with her husband. He should also be remembered as being a great unwavering friend to so many, a passionate woodworker/bowl turner and guitarist who could “rip” Clapton.
Services and burial will be private. For those who wish, Bucky may be remembered by making a memorial gift to the Old Town Animal Orphanage, 71 Airport Road, Old Town, ME 04468 or to the Stanwood Animal Sanctuary, 289 High St., Ellsworth, Maine 04605. Messages and memories may be shared with his family at kileyandfoley.com.
