Obituary of Jack N. Dinsmore
Jack N. Dinsmore, 93, passed August 20, 2024 in Corinth. He was born April 26, 1931 in Dover-Foxcroft, the only child of Arthur A. and Arlene (Lary) Dinsmore.
Jack grew up in Dover-Foxcroft, in what he described as the very best of time for childhood. Playing basketball for Foxcroft Academy and graduated in 1949. After having three children and acquiring four stepchildren he moved the family to Holden in 1969. He served in the Army National Guard, the Air Force and retired from the Air National Guard where he was a supply sergeant. He worked for the Maine Dept of Transportation for many years in road safety, traveling throughout the northeast. Through his work years he maintained part-time jobs, sometimes 2-3 in addition to his full-time career. He was dedicated and devoted to his family and could be found at any sporting event in which his children participated. Jack was a skilled craftsman and woodworker building his own home and furniture. Later, when the grandchildren started to arrive, he became well known for his dollhouses, planes, trains and automobiles. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the New England teams and he loved playing golf. After retirement Jack spent many special years with his person, Lauris Sailor. They traveled up and down the East Coast and spending winters in Florida. Jack had a great sense of humor, was a master storyteller and the king of the one-liners. We will dearly miss this special man and know that we were blessed to have him in our lives for 93 years.
Surviving are his three children Danny Dinsmore and his wife, Rhonda of South Carolina, Randy Dinsmore of Bangor, Jackie Dinsmore Ford of Holden, three stepchildren Rebecca Murray Crocker of Florida, Alfred Murray of Old Town and Barbara Murray McIntyre both of Old Town; grandchildren, Stephanie & Melissa Dinsmore, Randy Dinsmore, Jr., Leonard Ford, V and Angelina Stearns; many grandchildren, great grandchildren.
