Obituary of Ryan J. Matson

Ryan Matson, 45, of Brewer, passed away August 8, 2024, surrounded by family and friends following a long illness.  He was born May 20, 1979.

It is with heavy hearts that we remember Ryan's vibrant spirit and the legacy he leaves behind. His passion for family, fishing, and humor touched the lives of many. Ryan's playful jokes and personalized nicknames endeared him to all, making him a cherished presence in our lives.

Ryan was predeceased by his father Harold of Brewer. Ryan's legacy lives on through his most cherished gifts - his children Cody Ryan Matson, Riley Ann Matson, and Ryder James Matson. He is remembered by his mother Diana of Brewer; partner Lisa of Corinth; brother Thomas and wife Nicole of Carmel; sister Nicole and partner Adam of Brewer; nieces, Alyssa, Emma, Lydia, Mycala, Lily, Jordyn, Elizabeth; nephew Landon; dear friend turned family, Darren and his wife Sybil; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In honoring Ryan's memory, let us cherish the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared with those around him. May his spirit shine bright in our hearts as we remember the laughter and light he brought into the world. 

The family expresses gratitude to the remarkable ICU team at Northern Light. Ryan’s time with us was extended after he received an organ donation.  The family would encourage everyone to register to be an organ donor so you may be able to provide the gift of life to someone in need.  In place of flowers the family requests a donation in memory of Ryan be made to the American Kidney Foundation.  Instructions can be found at kidneyfund.org.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M., Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa Catholic Church, 425 South Main St., Brewer.  All are invited to a reception at the church hall following the service.
