Obituary of Douglas N. Kydd

Doug Kydd, 74, passed peacefully on June 12, 2024 in Bangor. He was born May 3, 1950 in Natick, MA, the son of Russell and Arlene (Sylvester) Kydd.

Doug spent his childhood in Deer Isle, ME, and graduated from Deer Isle High School in 1968. He graduated from University of Maine in 1973, eventually settling in Holden, where he lived for more than 40 years.

Doug was a successful salesman, spending the majority of his career in pharmaceutical sales with Glaxo SmithKline, during which time he won multiple platinum tier awards and other accolades for his achievements. He was a man of great faith and a long-time member of the Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Bangor. He loved basketball and golf, and developed a passion for restoring classic cars in retirement.

Doug is survived by his daughter Sarah Bissonnette (Paul), son, Joel Kydd and step-daughter Erica Swanton (Win), and their children, as well as three siblings and their families.

Friends and family may visit 9 to 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A service honoring and celebrating Doug’s life will be held 11 AM Tuesday following the visitation at the Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to the Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 375 Mt.
