Obituary of Shawn McBreairty

Shawn P. McBreairty, 53, died unexpectedly June 3, 2024. He was born Jan. 29, 1971, in Concord, NH, the son of Victoria (Henderson) Ballard and Marvin J. McBreairty.

Shawn is a graduate of Hampden Academy in 1989 and of the University of Maine in 1993. During his time at UMaine, he met the love of his life, Patti. In 2000 they were married and started a home in Cumberland where they raised their twin girls. Shawn was an avid outdoorsman, photographer, snowmobiler, writer, and kayaker. Shawn attended services at The Rock Church in Hampden and the Calvary Chapel in Orrington. One of his favorite past times included spending time with his dogs (Gus and Juliet) going four wheeling, playing fetch, and riding in his All-Black Dodge Ram.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patti” (Hall) McBreairty of Hampden; two daughters, Riley and Meaghan McBreairty both of Hampden; mother, Victoria H. Ballard and her husband David of Hampden; father, Marvin McBreairty and his wife Edwina of Brewer; sister, Leah and family; step-brother, Justin McBreairty and his wife Laura of Levant; step-brother, Travis Young and his wife Stacy of Topsham; step-sister, Rachel Pawson and her husband Brent of Long Branch, WA; mother-in-law Shirley Hall of Eddington; and father-in-law Joseph Hall and his wife Lene of Bangor. Shawn will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends including close friends Mike Haggerty, Ray Knott, Josh Henderson, Brian Engstrom and Craig Worster.
