Obituary of Alden Leonard Dixon

Alden “Dick” Dixon, 84, of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024. Dick was born on November 1, 1939 to Robert and Mary Dixon in Lagrange, Maine. After graduating from Old Town High School, he joined the United States Navy. He was eventually based at the Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach where he wed Erecel “Missy” Nelson in 1965. The couple resided in Virginia Beach for over 40 years.

 

Dick retired from Beach Ford after 34 years. Dick was the recipient of multiple awards in Ford’s prestigious Legends and Leaders program. Dick was quick witted and had a smile that could make anyone’s day brighter. He enjoyed tinkering with classic old cars, NASCAR races, gardening, the beach and traveling. Dick was known for being kind, generous, and consistently positive. Dick was happiest when he was with his many friends, beloved family and precious dogs. He was greatly loved and will be missed after a life well lived.

 

Dick is survived by his children, Jeanne Stephenson (Lewis), Michael Dixon (Julie), and Stephen Dixon (Kandice); grandchildren Rachel Foley (Ryan), Megan Dixon, Ashton Dixon, John Dixon, Kathryn Dixon, and Annie “Missy” Stephenson; great grandchildren Hunter and Riley Foley; sisters Carolyn Gilbert, Sylvia Johnson, Joan Gustafson, and Diane Patterson; brother Robert Dixon and 36 nieces and nephews. His love of life was apparent to all who knew him.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Western Ave, Hampden, Maine. A graveside burial with committal and final commendation and military honors will immediately follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer and messages and memories may be shared with his family here on the tribute wall.
