Obituary of Eunice H. Bouchard
Eunice H. Bouchard, 96, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, following a brief illness. She was born in Old Town on November 24, 1927, the daughter of P. Paul and Audelie (Brodeur) Dufour.
Following her graduation at Old Town High School in 1945, Eunice held secretarial positions in Old Town. She married John A. Bouchard in 1950 and it was a love that lasted for the next 65 years until John’s death in 2015. Together they raised two children, Paul and Mary Anne, and lived to enjoy their grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She loved spending summers at the family camp at Pushaw Lake and, later in life, enjoyed her many winters in Naples, Florida. Eunice spent most of her years as a homemaker creating a happy home for her family. She always enjoyed spending time with the elderly and for many years served as the site manager for the Old Town Meals for ME program. In her later years, she lovingly cared for her husband John in their home as he dealt with long-term dementia. Eunice was a woman of deep Catholic faith, which was very important to her, and she was an active communicant at the Parish of the Resurrection in Old Town. Spending time with her family and friends was very important to Eunice. She will be remembered for being the life of the party. She loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh even more. Throughout her life she was blessed with a sharp memory and an even sharper wit, something that her family will never forget.
Eunice is survived by her son Paul Bouchard and his wife Jane of Old Town and her daughter Mary Anne O’Kelly and her husband Kevin of Winterport; her brother Peter Dufour; her grandchildren Luke, Hillary and Matthew Bouchard (Renee) and Adam, Barry and Sarah Hesseltine; her great grandchildren Mikayla, Kendal Anne, and Amelia Hesseltine, Hunter and Killian Hesseltine, and Mason Bouchard; and many nieces and nephews. Eunice was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Franklin, Philip and James Dufour, and her sister Joan Caron. Paul and Mary Anne would like to thank the compassionate and professional care provided by the 5th floor nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
In honoring Eunice’s request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday, January 8, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Old Town with Rev. Kyle Doustou celebrant. A Rite of Committal will be held in the spring. Friends and family are invited to share in conversation and refreshments following Mass in the parish hall.
