Obituary of Marilyn Louise Cyr

Marilyn L. Cyr, 86, died peacefully August 23, 2023 in Brewer. She was born May 28, 1937 in Washburn, the daughter of Gordon F. and Alfreda G. (Gamblin) Hay.

She was a longtime resident of Caribou after marrying her high school sweetheart, Claude Cyr. Marilyn enjoyed painting, doing crafts and dancing. She worked several different jobs during her working years including librarian, real estate office, legal secretary, insurance adjustor and bookkeeping.

She loved her family very much and is survived by two daughters, Mary Gallant and her husband, Marty of Ellsworth and Debbie Ouellette and her husband, Gerry of Brewer. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, Jesse and Jacob and five great grandchildren, Jackson, Elise, Lucas, Nora and Mia; one sister, Phyllis Ayoob of Portland. She was predeceased by her parents, by her husband in 1991 and by a brother, William Hay. Marilyn’s family gratefully thanks the staff of the Woodlands Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care.

A private burial will take place at a later date in Caribou. To honor her memory, Marilyn’s family suggests a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.
