Brian E. Kenny, 64, died May 9, 2023 at his home in Bangor after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Dec. 7, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of William A. and Mary E. (Murphy) Kenny.
Brian spent his early childhood in beloved Cork, Ireland. He moved to Bangor in 1965 where he attended both public and parochial schools. He had a love for music, theater, and the performing arts, participating in drama, one act plays and Shakespeare on the River. He was gifted story teller and a natural born comedian with a great sense of timing and delivery. He would often have everyone in hysterics with the voices of characters he could imitate, especially his mother. Following High School, he attended the University of Maine and NESCOM. He lived some of his adult life in Boston, Winston-Salem, N.C. and Norman OK before moving back to Bangor. Brian took pride working in the hospitality industry and was known as providing excellent service with customers asking for him routinely. He was so grateful to his coworkers and Cathy Dorr for their ongoing support through his illness. He was also a talented Bartender, making legendary Manhattans. Spending time with family was very important to Brian. Holidays, vacations and outings to concerts were always memorable due to the fun and joy he added to each occasion. He has a special bond with each of his nieces and nephews, always championing their strengths and potential.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Bangor are three brothers and three sisters, William (Barbara) of Clarkston, MI, Kevin (Marcella) of Bangor, Fergus (Tricia) of Goldsboro, NC, Catherine Warme (Steven) of Winslow, Elizabeth Kenny-Day (Tim) of Benton and Geraldine Webster (Andrew) of York; nieces and nephews Liam, Joseph, Aubrey, Connor, Ned, Carli, Brendan, Ainsley, Colin, Aiden, Maeve and Kiera.
