Obituary of Jacob Cable Madden
BANGOR - Jacob "Jake" Madden, ended his life unexpectedly on April 22, 2023, after his long-fought battle with depression and stress.
Jake was a loving and caring man, who always kept humor at the center of his life. His bright smile and consistent banter brought joy to everyone that he interacted with. Jake had an eccentric and quirky personality that was irreplaceable. Those closest to him knew him as nostalgic, sentimental, and a true romantic. Above all, Jake was an extremely proud father and family man. Jake loved spending time together with his three kids and his fiancée. The sense of family and joy they brought him was everlasting. He loved his children more than he could express in words. His personality made him the best kind of father: loving, patient, positive, and endlessly supportive. He was especially fond of taking his girls fishing at camp with his father and teaching his son Logan how to snowboard. Jacob also loved the outdoors and enjoyed activities like fishing, archery, rock climbing, swimming, riding his motorcycle, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and playing basketball as a family.
One of Jake's proudest accomplishments was his career as a fireman. Jacob began his career in northern Penobscot County, serving the towns of East Millinocket, Lincoln, and Lowell. He went on to join the Old Town Fire Department in 2017; of which he was a proud member. In 2021, Jake joined the Bangor Fire Department, where he bravely served until his passing. He was highly regarded by his coworkers, both for his work ethic and his dedication to helping others. Jake loved his job, and even more so, loved the people that he worked with.
Jacob is survived by fiancée Erica Batson; daughters Willow Madden and Salem Madden; son Logan Batson; father Jeffery Madden and wife Kelly; sister Casey Madden; mother Ann Hollis and husband Brad Hollis; grandfather Martin Madden Sr.; aunts Candice Jipson, Bonnie York, and Marta Bartash; brothers and sisters of the Bangor and Old Town Fire Departments.
