Obituary of Cheryl Ann Cropley

Cheryl A. Cropley, 71, died April 18, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was born September 23, 1951, in Houlton, the daughter of Dana and Barbara (Malone) Johnson.

As a child, Cheryl lived in Wytopitlock, and after the passing of her father, her family relocated to Haynesville. At an early age, she worked as a server in a local restaurant in Houlton. In 1970, she moved to Bangor, and worked multiple jobs prior to spending 15 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital as the Director of Medical Records and in 2013 retired as the Director of Medical Records for Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Hospital. Cheryl lived a full life with her partner and best friend Allen Cole Jr. She enjoyed family, attending church, volunteering, traveling, Jimmy Buffett concerts, UMaine Hockey and attending weekly dinners with the Thursday Night crew. Her door was always open to family and friends and often offered a helping hand to those in need. She was a truly kind and giving individual.

Surviving are her two children, Toni Goding and her husband, John of Bangor and Jeffrey Cropley of Haynesville; her mother, Barbara Aldrich of Brewer; grandchildren, Lauren Boutilier of Bangor, Jay Lebretton of Sweetwater, TX, Jeremy Cropley of Fort Fairfield and Gabrielle Goding of Bangor; sister, Karen Gallant and her husband, Donald of Brewer, brother, Bruce Aldrich and his wife, Susan of Haynesville; sister-in-law, Patty Johnson of Houlton; step daughter, Michelle Lawrence of Fort Myers, FL and several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Clayton and Pearl Malone, Harold Johnson and Audrey Emerson, father, Dana Johnson, stepfather, Robert Aldrich, husband Robert Cropley, brother, Blaine Johnson, and her partner and best friend of 37 years, Allen Cole Jr. in 2023.

A Celebration of Life to honor Cheryl will be held May 6, 2023, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer, ME. A graveside service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Haynesville, ME on May 7, 2023, at noon. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer.
