Obituary of Steven W. Burris

Steven W. Burris, 49, husband of Andrea (MacLeod) Burris, went peacefully to God on April 10, 2023 in Bangor with his family at his side after a brief illness. He was born October 11, 1973 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Sidney Burris and Edith M. (Mayo) More.

Steve grew up in Florida but Maine was home. He made a huge impact as a mentor for many teens in crisis and Steve never met a stranger, just a friend he hadn’t met yet. He loved to garden and cook and was welcoming to everybody. His love for his family and friends filled his eyes with light and when anybody ever needed an ear or a shoulder to cry on, Steve was always there. He had a heart of gold and was one of a kind.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 18 years of Holden are his mother, Edith More and his stepfather, Gene More of Holden; two children, Samuel Burris and his wife, Maggie of Hampden and Amber Burris of Levant; two grandchildren, Anastasia and Vivian Burris; two half sisters, Jackie Tennent and Cathy Gunderman and her husband, Larry and two half brothers, Mark McLeod and his wife, Becky and T. Lee McLeod all of Florida; two special nieces, Kandace and Morgan and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; also his loving mother-in-law, “Nurse Sally.”
