Q: What did Lois like to do in their free time?
A: Card Night, a note from Lois to Kevin in 2013 speaking of the 1950s. "When they all lived here in Maine, they used to have weekly card parties where they would gather one week at one house, the next another house, etc. There were several tables set up each week and everyone would start out equal playing "63" but once they won, they'd move on to the next table and the loser would stay put. Finally, one couple (not necessarily married to each other- usually not) would end up at the "king" table and be crowned the winner. After each of these games, the hostess produced goodies (and believe me, every one of those Clark ladies could cook!) and coffee. I went quite often with Uncle Art - there was Aunt Carrie & Uncle George, Aunt Lena and Uncle Clyde, Aunt Viola and Uncle Randell, Aunt Eva and Uncle Horace, Dad and Clem, and Aunt Gladys and Uncle Scott (when they lived in Winterport). What gay old times they had enjoying the game and the companionship. Some of them were known for cheating (no names mentioned) while others slammed their cards down on the table to create an impression of having the best hand. I presume when Uncle Percy and Uncle Leslie were alive they also played cards but that was before my time."

From Aunt Lois to Kevin Sigler April 4, 2014. Memories are a wonderful thing! During my first trip away from home when I was 13, Dave and Pat took me to Connecticut in their little blue 'Henry J'. Fastest I had ever traveled! Pat took me to buy a new bathing suit and we picked out a little 2-piece peach number trimmed in black! Next day Pat, 3-year old Linda and me went to the beach (silver lake or something like that) where I christened my new suit. Did I ever feel chic! One day all 4 of us went to New York to the Bronx zoo. Had a wonderful time and traveled all over the state trying to find a roller coaster which I was dying to ride. For some reason they were all shut down and it didn't happen on that trip. The apartment in Bethel had me in awe and Pat introduced me to sausage and pepper grinders which I love to this day! Memories!!!
