Obituary of Sharon Alma Brimmer
Sharon A. Brimmer
Levant - Sharon Alma Brimmer, née Groves, 71, entered eternity on August 10, 2022, passing at home with her immediate family. Sharon was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 31, 1951. She was predeceased by her son, Erik Russell Brimmer, in 1978 and by her father, Elmer G. Groves and her mother, Virginia A. Heald. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years and her greatest supporter, Russell J. “Spike” Brimmer, by her sisters Nancy Groves-O’Connor and Rebecca Groves, and by her children and their loved ones: Nathan P. Brimmer of Machias and his partner Daphne Loring; Jeremy A. Brimmer of Phoenix, Arizona and his partner, Jessica Bailey; and Melody M. Brimmer of Portland and their partner, Brett Archambault. Sharon is also survived by her beloved Aunt Margaret Theriault of Auburn, Maine, and special friends Sharon Stacki of Westbrook and Mandy Morrish of South Portland.
Sharon graduated from Brewer High School in 1969, and from Beal College in Bangor. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, Sharon was employed at what is now Maine Public in various capacities including several years as the manager of station services at the organization’s Portland facility. Sharon suffered with several chronic medical conditions throughout her life, but she always had a helping hand and a ready smile for anyone who needed them. Her greatest legacy is the love and care she had for others. She particularly enjoyed working with her flowers and plants, both indoors and outdoors. She loved watching birds at the feeder and caring for the several cats she nurtured over the years. Sharon was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Parish.
Sharon’s family is grateful to all who have reached out with prayers, kind words and other support, and they commend the staff at Northern Light Home Care & Hospice for their compassionate care. The family appreciates the ongoing support from the Knights of Columbus and from the Levant Fire Department, whose members have visited, prepared and delivered food, mowed the lawn and been present in many other ways.
