Obituary of Vaughn Edward Coleman
EDDINGTON--Vaughn Edward Coleman, 84, a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was born December 11, 1937, in Brewer, the son of Edward and Frances (Worster) Coleman.
On August 25, 1956, he married his beloved wife, Marlene (Stockwell) Coleman, and together they raised three daughters. He retired from the University of Maine after 25 years. After retirement, he and Marlene spent many happy years residing in both Eddington, ME and Bradenton, FL. Vaughn was known for his stories, his endearing smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He cherished his family and created unforgettable memories for so many. Whether captaining his pontoon boat, embarking on a travel adventure, spending time at the lake, or hitting the slots at the casino, his enthusiasm for life experiences was inevitably contagious.
Vaughn was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Carolyn. He is survived by his loving wife Marlene; children, Linda Horr (Robert), Pamela Treadwell (Dana), Sherri Pugh (Anthony); grandchildren, Derek Coleman (Valerie), Melanie Miller (Colin), Michael Blais (Nicole), Stefanie Poole, Kristy Davis (Jonathan), and Nicole Horr; great-grandchildren, Isabella Blais, Alexis Miller, Ellie Davis, Riley Miller, Alexander Davis, Olivia Wethington, Ava Blais, DJ Coleman, Natalie Hansen, and Madilyn Hansen; sister Marion Porter; brother Richard Coleman (Sandra Noyes); several nieces and nephews; dear friends James and Adria Hughes, John Gamble and Elaine Scott, Gene and Lorraine Welch, Ervin and Ann Marston; many more special family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the University of Maine Foundation, 2 Alumni Place, Orono, ME 04469, to be used for scholarships for students.
A memorial service will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Morgan Hill Event Center, 82 Morgan Hill Lane, Hermon. All are invited to stay for a reception following the service.
