Obituary of Amy Palmieri

Amy Palmieri BREWER & CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Amy Palmieri, 48, of Charlottesville, VA and formerly of Brewer, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at home in Charlottesville. Amy was born May 16, 1967 in Bangor, the daughter of the late Richard Palmieri and Anne Therese “Terry” Murtha. Amy was a 1985 graduate of Brewer High School and attended Beal Business College. She took many on-line courses and was currently enrolled at Piedmont College in Virginia. Amy moved to Beverly Hills, Florida in 1999 and worked for Citrus County in several administrative assistant positions and was working part-time for Albemarle County in Charlottesville, VA. at the time of her death. She received numerous recognitions for her work ethic, dedication and commitment to her chosen field of endeavor. Amy had an incredibly sharp wit and sense of humor. She adored her nephews and had the “patience of a saint” with all children. She was an avid reader, loved travelling seeing all parts of the United States, a lover of nature and animals. Her most prized possessions were her two dogs, Ruben Bitway Palmieri and Gypsy Inez Poteet. Amy enjoyed serving her community through the Hernando Lions Club of Citrus County while living in Florida. She will be dearly missed and left to cherish her memory are her mother, Terry Murtha and stepfather, Bruce Kigas both of Charlottesville, VA, one sister, Sandra McGarrigle and her husband, Geoff of Keswick, Virginia; nephews, Dominic McGarrigle of Rhode Island and David McGarrigle of Keswick, Va. Aunt Cecelia “Celie” Murtha and her husband Nick Baudanza of Bangor, ME and cousins Joe and Chris Baudanza, uncles and many cousins on her paternal side. Family and friends may visit and celebrate Amy’s life 11 AM to 1 PM Monday, June 6, 2016 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor where a rosary recitation will be held at 1 PM as the visitation concludes. Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. In Amy’s memory and dedication to the homeless and animals, contributions may be made in her name to an organization of your choosing.
