Obituary of Gerald A Simpson

Gerald A. Simpson II, 51 of Glenburn passed away due to complications from polymyositis, a rare muscle disease that he has battled for over a decade. He was born on July 23, 1969. He was the son of Carol M. (Dill) Simpson and late Charles A. Simpson. At the age of 16, he began working alongside his father at the family business, G.A. Simpson & Son on the Pushaw Road in Glenburn. After his father’s death in 2009, Gerald continued to run the family business as Simpson’s Small Engine Repair with his son, Alex, by his side. Gerald was well-known throughout the community not only for his business but from his dedication and service to the Glenburn Fire Department where he served for over thirty years achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Gerald loved fishing, hunting and horseback riding. He was an avid snowmobiler and a member of his local snowmobile club. He has touched many lives throughout his life and will be greatly missed by his customers and community. Gerald is survived by his mother, Carol Simpson; daughter, Katie Simpson; son, Gerald “Alex” Simpson and their mother, Tina Whitney all of Glenburn; sister, Lisa (Simpson) Zeisler and her children, Jacob and Carlie Zeisler all of Gray, Maine. He will be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Robin Corey and his beloved dog, Rosco, who was always by his side. Although Gerald’s immediate family was small, he had a huge extended family that helped to support him throughout his life and that he loved very much. Special thank you to the Mitchell and Cookson Families and special friends Allen Adams, Michael Mitchell, Jimmy Grant, and Gordon Simmons. Lisa would like to thank and express immense gratitude to Carol, Katie and Alex for their unconditional love and dedication while caring for Gerald. Due to COVID19 restrictions and guidelines, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
