Obituary of Delma June Spellman

Brewer—Delma June (Whitten) Spellman, 92, wife of Robert B. Spellman, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2020, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born May 18, 1928, the daughter of Lewis and Eugenie Whitten. Delma attended Brewer schools. She was employed at W.T. Grant and Freeses in Bangor for several years and, in later years, worked at Brewer Card and Gift, where she retired after 19 years. Delma enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved the holidays, most notably Christmas. She had a “Christmas Room” that housed all her seasonal decorations. She took great pride in her home, where she lived for 84 of her 92 years. She loved to work in her flower gardens and looked forward to the greenhouses opening every spring. She also enjoyed Saturday morning yard sales with her daughter in the summertime. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and sister Doris Blinn. Delma is survived by daughter Susan Stitham and husband Gordon of Orrington; son Robert Spellman, Jr. of Scarborough; grandchildren Jennifer Vachon, Emily McIntosh, and Cory Stitham; great-grandchildren Norah, Spencer, Abigail, Owen, and Alice. In lieu of flowers, Delma would have asked for donations to be made to a charity of your choice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 P.M. Friday, September 11, 2020, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
