Obituary of Marcella F. Cote

Marcella F. Cote Brewer –Marcella F. Cote, 97, wife of the late Joseph D. Cote, died Mar. 18, 2016 in Bangor after a brief decline in her health. She was born Mar. 15, 1919 in Queens, New York City, the daughter of Thomas M. and Mary R. (Harrison) Garity. Marcella grew up surrounded by her large happy family spending summers in Mastic Beach, Long Island. She worked as an executive secretary in New York in her earlier years. Marcella and Joe married and moved to Brewer in 1947 and spent the next 64 years together in their family home. She loved the times she spent with her family especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years where she enjoyed making crafts for the church Christmas fair and enjoyed her involvement with church suppers. She is survived by three children, Kathleen (Cote) Hughes and her husband, Paul of Cornville, Paul Cote and his wife, Susan (Haskell) Cote of Waterville, Ann (Cote) Wright and her husband, Rick of Bowling Green, KY; 5 grandchildren, Joanna Berube and her husband, John of Billerica, Mass., Peter Hughes of Garner, NC, Paul J. Cote of Bath, Patrick Cote and his wife, Tracey of Oakland, Elizabeth Ouellette and her husband, Michael of Benton; five great grandchildren, Lucas and Cassie Berube of Billerica, Mass, Caden, Beckett and Lexington Cote all of Oakland; one sister, Rita Ledermann of Long Island, NY and sisters-in-law, Margaret Youngblood of Brewer and Lena Bouchard of Presque Isle; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and by two brothers, Charles and Harrison and by four sisters, Regina, Jane, Elizabeth and Joan. She will be remembered by a special friend and caregiver, Jenny Huntley. Family and friends may visit 4 – 6 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 531 North Main St., Brewer with her nephew, Rev. David Cote, celebrant. A time of friendship and refreshments will be immediately afterward in the church center. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
