Obituary of Audrey D. Sewall
Audrey Donna Johnson Sewall, of Hermon, ME passed away peacefully on April 25, 2020 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Rockland, ME April 27, 1939 to the late August Johnson and Joanna Robinson Johnson.
She graduated from St. George High School in 1957 and married her one and only love, Adrian, at the age of 18. In 1967 they moved to Brewer, ME with their two children, Nathan and Andrea. In addition to being a devoted mother, she attended the University of Maine at Orono, where she graduated with honors in 1973. She went on to have a distinguished career as an elementary school teacher in Brewer, ME before retiring in 1995. Audrey excelled at everything she put her mind to and loved to cook, read, play piano, sew and knit. She spent time with her children, and then grandchildren, doing projects which has instilled a love of art and creativity in them all. She traveled extensively with Adrian over their 62 years of marriage and loved to see new places, but always loved her time at home with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren who were blessed to have such a caring and consistent presence in their lives. For many years, she enjoyed summers with her family at their camp on Branch Lake, where she began almost every day with a swim before sunrise. In later years, Audrey and Adrian enjoyed spending their winters in Jensen Beach, FL. She was a radiant example of grace, compassion and love and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is sadly missed.
Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Adrian Sewall of Hermon, ME, her son, Nathan Sewall and his wife Tammi of Tyrone, GA, her daughter, Andrea Sewall Treadwell and her husband Steven of Orrington and her grandchildren, Cameron Sewall, Corey Sewall and his wife, Bekah, and Lee Sewall, all of Atlanta, GA, Audrey Treadwell of Portland, ME and Alayna Treadwell of Orrington, ME. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
