Obituary of Clifford R. Sagner

Clifford “Cliff” R. Sagner, 77, formerly of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, died unexpectedly February 17, 2016, while on vacation in St. Augustine, FL with his love and partner, Marilyn Lavelle. Cliff grew up in Auburn, ME and after a stint in the U.S .Marines he attended Bentley College, graduating with a degree in Accounting. He then commenced a career as a computer programmer, at High Voltage Corporation and Electronized Chemicals Corporation, both in Burlington, MA. Cliff enjoyed working until he reached age 72 then retired to Maine where he and Marilyn enjoyed a life of travel, friends, and many activities. In high school Cliff was a member of the swim team, specializing in diving. Throughout his life he remained active, enjoying hockey, swimming, softball, downhill skiing, and motorcycling. Cliff loved playing cards, cross word puzzles, reading, dancing, and traveling with his best friend Marilyn. He was a man who worked hard and could be relied upon as a friend. He will be remembered as a good man and a lover of life. In addition to Marilyn he leaves his daughter Lauren (Gerry) Espe of West Boylston, MA, son Don (and fiancé Alexandra) of Arlington, MA, and daughter, Judy (Jim) Cooney of Lakeville, MA; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Bill, Ian, Nicole, Peter, Caroline, and Jackson, and one great-grandchild, Benjamin; siblings Ron (Donna) Sagner, and Patti (Bill) Dyer, sister-in-law Adrain (Richard) Sagner, many nieces and nephews. His extended family include, Jonathan (Leslie) Lavelle, Susan Benavides, Jeremy (Ana)Lavelle, Jeffrey Lavelle and grandchildren, Jared, Sydney, Catherine, Anthony, Joshua, Jacob, Gabriella, and Joseph. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Sagner, and his brother Richard. Family and friends may visit 2:00 to 3:30 PM Sunday, Mar. 13, 2016 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer where a service honoring and celebrating his life will be held at 3:30 PM as the visitation concludes.
