Obituary of Jean M Curley

Bangor—Jean Marie Curley, 90, died Sept. 23, 2017, in Bangor. She was born in Millinocket on Sept. 1, 1927, the daughter of Joseph J. and Camilla W. (Trainor) Curley.

 

Jean graduated from Schneck High School in East Millinocket and the Maine School of Commerce of Bangor (now Husson University). She was employed at Bangor Hydro Electric Company for 44 years. She was the secretary to the president for many years and was a member of the company's "Quarter Century Club." Following retirement she remained active and enjoyed part time work at Libby's Hallmark Store on Broadway. She was a faithful volunteer at The Attic, where she made many friends. Jean was a communicant at St. John's Catholic Church, past president of the Women's Council, and was a member of the Current Events Club and Volunteer Cemetery Angels. Jean was a loving and caring daughter, sister, and aunt.

 

Jean was predeceased by her parents; brothers E. Desmond Curley of Winthrop in June 2009, John J. Curley of East Millinocket in Feb. 2014; sister-in-law Anna (Mosca) Curley of East Millinocket in Jan. 1995; brothers-in-law William J. Smedy in Sept. 2008 and Thomas J. Herbert in Jan. 2012. She is survived by sisters Anna C. Herbert of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Noreen T. Smedy of Ellington, CT; sister-in-law Iris Gipson Curley of Winthrop; many dear nieces and nephews and their families, including nephew James P. Herbert and his family of Branch Lake and Carrabassett Valley.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Sylvia Ross Home and Ross Manor for the exceptional care they provided to Jean. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to All Saints Catholic School, 207 York St. Bangor, ME 04401

 

At Jean's request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 AM, Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio St., Bangor. All are invited to a reception at the church hall following the burial. Messages and memories may be shared with the family at kileyandfoley.com
