Brewer –It is with a heavy heart and sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Robert F. Scott, Jr., 52, on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at his home in Brewer with his wife and family at his side. Loving husband, father, son, brother and dear friend to many, Robert was born Aug. 15, 1965 in St. Catharines, Ontario, the son of Robert F. Scott, Sr. and Sharon B. (Sharnock) Scott.
Robert grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada and graduated from Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He completed his Master of Science in Criminal Justice and public administration at the State University of New York College at Buffalo and completed a post-masters study at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in criminal justice concentrating in affirmative action policy. Robert earned his Phd from Sam Houston State University in criminal justice in 1993. Robert served as Chief Academic Officer for Unity College for the last two years. He previously served at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas where he held the position of Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Institutional Effectiveness. He also had considerable experience and service as Chief Academic Officer at multiple institutions including both Keystone College in La Plume, Pennsylvania and at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. He was also Dean of the College of Education and Applied Technology and Chair of the Department of Justice Studies at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Robert’s accomplishments in distance learning are considerable. Rob was a master of knowledge in sports, World War II and many other historical events. He loved spending time with his wife including cruising the Caribbean, watching movies, and going out to dinner.
Surviving in addition to his parents of St. Catharines, Ontario are his wife, Tina M. Scott of Brewer; his daughter, Rylie Contrerez of Camp LeJeune, NC; and stepchildren, Kara Ferguson of Simpson, PA, Trisha Ouellette of Levant and Alex Caron of Fort Kent; two brothers, Bill Scott and his wife, Barb and Mike Scott all of St. Catharines, Ontario.
Family and friends may visit 5 -7 PM Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 531 No. Main St., Brewer where a time of friendship and refreshments will follow.
