Obituary of Mildred L. Treat
Holden—Mildred (Lunt) Treat, 95, wife of the late George C. Treat, passed away Dec. 15, 2015. She was born in Brewer, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel (Annis) Lunt.
Mildred attended Brewer schools and Eastern Academy of Hair Dressing. She married George C. Treat in 1941 and they built their own log camp on Phillips Lake where she enjoyed all things outdoors. In 1953, they moved to Holden where Mildred became a member of the Holden Congregational Church, where she helped to teach Sunday School. She served on the school board and was town clerk for several years. Mildred enjoyed children and donated many hours to the Cub Scouts and 4-H Club. She also did volunteer work for community projects. She was a member of the Patawa Club. Later in life, Mildred developed a passion for golf. She spent many happy years with her golf buddies at Hermon Meadows and played in tournaments throughout the state. She enjoyed cross country skiing, camping, and the daily crossword puzzle.
Mildred is survived by son Ronald C. Treat and wife Sherry of Holden; daughter Jeannette (Treat) and husband Robert Washburn of Holden; grandchildren Kelly (Treat) Drake, Michael Treat, Jennifer (Washburn) Long; eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; brothers Edward and Robert Lunt; sisters Lillian Small and Mary G. Dresser.
Mildred’s family extends their sincere thanks to the loving staff of Winterberry Heights and Beacon Hospice for all their care and support.
At Mildred’s request, there will be no funeral or visitation.
