Obituary of Barbara D. Ivers

Barbara D. Ivers Bangor & Brewer – Barbara D. Ivers, 90, wife of the late Stanley Ivers, died Dec. 12, 2015 in Bangor. She was born Feb. 20, 1925 in Old Town, one of eight children to Arthur F. and Adella M. (Beaulieu) Gilman. Barbara lived in Old Town and on Verona Island as a child and resided in Brewer most of her adult life where she raised her family. During WWII, she went to school for aircraft mechanics and she did domestic work for many years for area motels as well as private housekeeping. Barbara also worked for Sylvania in Bangor for 10 years. She loved to crochet, dance and shop. Surviving are five children, Judith A. Tate and her husband, Richard of Pinnacle, NC, Thomas S. Ivers and his wife, Frances of Bangor, Dana C. Ivers and his wife, Sue of Trenton, Carrie R. Verrow and her husband, Paul of Brewer and Sally Ivers of Bangor; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was on predeceased by her husband in 1986 and by her seven brothers and sisters. Barbara’s family expresses their gratitude to the staff of Westgate Manor, especially Emily, Jean and Val for their care and kindness and to the staff of Beacon Hospice for their excellent care. Family and friends may visit 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer where a service honoring Barbara’s life will be held at 1 PM as the visitation concludes. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Brewer.
