Obituary of Virginia Conant Miner

Virginia Conant Miner Bangor – Virginia Conant Miner passed away December 18, 2016 at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Amos N. Conant and Louise (Libby) Conant. Virginia grew up in Monroe and was a graduate of Crosby High School in Belfast, Class of 1939 and University of Maine, Orono, Class of 1943. She was employed 37 years at New England Telephone Company, retiring in 1983. She was active in Telephone Pioneers of America, Altrusa International Inc. of Bangor, Tuscan Chapter No. 148 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of All Souls Congregational Church. Her Christian walk and life influenced and touched many lives over the years as she volunteered countless hours for the betterment of her community, including at Cole's Transportation Museum. Virginia wed Adrian D. Miner in 1987 and they enjoyed over 13 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Clarice and brother-in-law Louis Gushee. Surviving are step-daughter Gretchen Brissette and husband Claude of Presque Isle, Step granddaughter Nicole Staples, Step Great Grandchildren, Adrian, Lily and Elijah Staples of Natick, MA, Nephew Stephen Gushee and wife Marla of Chandler, AZ, niece, Beverly (Gushee) Larochelle and husband Raymond of Bangor, and many grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held on 10 AM Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor with Rev. Dr. James Haddix, presiding. A reception will follow in the church center. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember her in a special way are encouraged to contribute in her memory to Special Olympics, P. O.
