Obituary of James Thomas Savoy
Brewer--James T. Savoy, 91, passed peacefully into heaven Nov. 20, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was the beloved husband of Hazel M. Savoy for 72 years.
He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, receiving two purple hearts. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Wasp as a radar man. He retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years.
James loved the ocean, especially days at camp at Bayside and at Schoodic Point with his family. He loved his vegetable garden and doing crosswords. He was an avid lifelong reader and a great natural handyman. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his great sense of humor, positive outlook on life, sharp intellect, infectious laugh and his amazing smile.
He was predeceased by his parents James T. and Esther (LaCross) Savoy, a sister and two brothers. He is survived by wife Hazel; daughters Janice Peavey and husband Joseph, Vicki Fisher and husband Callie; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
There will be no funeral services per James request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to your local animal shelter in memory of James' beloved cat Suzie who recently passed and was waiting to greet him. Messages and memories may be shared with the family at kileyandfoley.com.
